Important Information About Applying to Rochester Prep
Uncommon Schools Rochester Prep will operate 7 schools in 2018-19. We are free public charter schools serving students in grades K-12. Each Rochester Prep Elementary School feeds into a specific Rochester Prep Middle School, and all Middle School campuses feed into Rochester Prep High School.
Lotteries and Waitlists
Rochester Prep is accepting applications at all of its seven schools. Because there are more students who would like to attend Rochester Prep than we have seats available, we hold a lottery for incoming classes to our schools. For the 2018-2019 school year, this means the kindergarten classes at all three elementary schools and the 5th grade class at our new middle school, Rochester Prep Middle School 3, will be holding lotteries. Every student who has submitted an application to these grades by the deadline is eligible for the lottery. To ensure that your student is included in the lotteries, please submit your online application by April 1st at 11:59pm. The lotteries will be held on April 10th (8:00am for Elementary Schools and 6:00pm for Middle School 3), and you will be notified of the results soon after the lottery is complete.
For all other schools and grades, we are accepting applications for the waitlist. As soon as you complete the online application, your student will be added to the appropriate waitlist and you will be notified when a seat becomes available.
Certain students may receive a priority in the lottery. Those students include siblings of other Rochester Prep students, children of Rochester Prep employees, English Language Learner students, students who qualify for Free and Reduced Price Lunch, and students who reside within the City of Rochester. There are no academic criteria for gaining admittance to Rochester Prep. We encourage all students to apply and there is no cost to apply or attend.
