Rochester Prep closes achievement gaps even when students enter at the middle school level. The students who entered Rochester Prep West Middle School did not attend Rochester Prep elementary schools (because Rochester Prep West Elementary School did not yet serve fourth graders who could matriculate into West Middle School). Therefore, students from other schools in the City entered Rochester Prep for the first time during their middle school years. In the results below, you can see how Rochester Prep performance accelerates at each grade level. By the end of 7th grade, Rochester Prep students significantly outperform the Monroe County average in Math. In 8th grade, Rochester Prep students take the high school Algebra I Regents exam instead of the standard NY 8th grade exam – and 93% of them pass! So despite students’ proficiency levels when they enter Rochester Prep, most of them exit our middle schools having successfully completed high school level math.
