Application Process
—To be eligible for Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old by December 1, 2026
—The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 1, 2026
—Applications may be submitted after the deadline and will be added to the waitlist and offers will be made as soon as space becomes available.
Certain students may receive a priority in the lottery. Those students include siblings of other Rochester Prep students, children of Rochester Prep employees, English Language Learner students, students who qualify for Free and Reduced Price Lunch, and students who reside within the City of Rochester. There are no academic criteria for gaining admittance to Rochester Prep. We encourage all families to submit an application, and there is no cost to apply or attend.
GoodSchoolsRoc is an online application system used by Rochester Prep, in collaboration with other charter schools, to make it easy for families to apply to charter schools. By going to the GoodSchoolsRoc website, you will be able to apply to multiple schools with a single application. Please be sure to click on all of the Rochester Prep schools in order to increase your chances of getting a seat at Rochester Prep.

Register for an in-person school tour to view our beautiful campuses and meet our school leaders.
In early April, families will be notified if their child won an offer in our lottery to enroll into a school of their choice.
Families who do not receive an offer in the Lottery will be placed on the waitlist and notified on a rolling basis as seats become available. New offers are made to families on the waitlist every day!
Uncommon Schools is committed to ensuring that all families have an equal opportunity to enroll in our schools and many of our current families enrolled after being pulled from the waitlist!
Families that receive offers into our schools must complete their school registration forms and provide necessary documentation.
If your child was offered a seat at one of the schools on the application, you must accept the offer and complete registration to secure your child’s spot at that school. Completing registration includes providing the following documentation:
- One proof of address
- Child birth certificate or passport
- Parent or guardian photo ID
- IEP documentation (if applicable)
Registered families will attend orientation to learn more about the school hours, curriculum, culture, and more.

Our Schools
Each Rochester Prep elementary school feeds into a specific Rochester Prep middle school, and all middle school campuses feed into Rochester Prep High School.
Rochester Prep is one of many charter networks in the city of Rochester. Rochester Prep is part of Uncommon Schools, a nonprofit that manages over 50 schools in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. Our charter is overseen by the State University of NY, and we are not bound by rules set forth by the Rochester City School District.
